Balmoral Family Garden
This Balmoral family garden is planted generously for a spacious outdoor family environment.
Crazy pavers are broken up by thin seams of Dichondra repens, while rounded clumps of Lomandra and Westringia are combined for a low maintenance combination.
The space opens to a dining table on one side and generous outdoor modular on the other. Resulting in clever zoning for outdoor living.
Outdoor Furniture selections
The teak outdoor table sits beneath the dark slatted pergola, which provides all year protection against the weather.
The charcoal modular sofa and armchair sit in front of a feature black framed outdoor mirror. Expanding the space with green reflections providing a true outdoor room feel.
The large woven rug marks out the seating area and maintains the minimal colour palette.
Low Maintenance Planting
A pleached olive tree in a large raised planter creates a focal point at the far end of the garden. Repeated mounds of Lomandra longifolia soften the planter, follow the path and bring consistency to the edge of the seating area.
Low coastal rosemary (Westringia fruticosa) adds a quieter grey-green texture, while fuller shrubs bring the planting close behind the sofa.
The materials are deliberately few. Irregular crazy paving, light planter walls, dark metalwork, charcoal upholstery and the warmer teak top of the dining table.
This restraint is intentional leaving room for smaller details to be noticed, such as the furniture and outdoor mirror combination.
There is space for both intimate and expanded family dining and room to comfortably seat guests afterwards
